Fossil Fuel

Overview

The process for obtaining forward pricing for fuel oil, gasoline, and diesel fuel begins with obtaining from the Participating Members their projected needs for a contract year starting July 1 forward for twelve (12) months. The process for collection of data begins normally in the second or third months of the year with advertising and bid opening and award selection taking place approximately three to four weeks thereafter. Market conditions may cause that timeframe to vary .Awards are made based on the lowest responsible bid. Once awards are made, the Participating Member executes a purchase order for the product with the contract period to begin July 1. Individual delivery requirements are arranged between the Participating Member and the successful bidder/vendor. At the conclusion of the contract year, the Participating Member is provided an itemized invoice of the fuels purchased at the rate of $.01 cent per gallon during the contract year (vender supplies usage figures).
